Thank you.
[to both Lance and the vendor... but mostly Lance for his help and his patience as he steps into the back, closing himself from view...
...this is strange material. Stranger still how he has to sort of struggle into the suit and for a moment he considers calling out, convinced it's too small, certain he's going to rip the seams. But further examination shows the seams are holding firm and he gets enough confidence to put it on. It stretches to fit him - hugs him closer than he had thought, but that's just the design. He's a little longer, checking how it looks in the mirror before he opens the curtain again, seeking Lance out in the shop.
If the boy had given up and wandered, he wouldn't have been surprised]

[It's fine, it's here, it's blah blah bullshit. Five minutes becomes hours; it's dark -- Billy will probably need to guide them soon.]
Lance. [He's grumbling from approximately ten-twelve feet to his rear. He doesn't have to say anything else. By his tone, Lance could probably infer that he wants to go back. That's all he's been talking about for the past...
Uh, since the lagoon first came up. The beach was fine. There was food, watermelon contests, so on and so forth. Even if he was raised by wolves and has nomadic tendencies, there's something about going on a marathon in sandals and shorts that is decidedly unpleasant.]

The style is a little strange.
[Linneus had always been cursed with an easy blush - something he's learned to breeze through, but it's certainly showing now as he holds his folded clothes close. His companion is blushing just as much though - how sweet - and he smiles a little, stepping closer to the vendor]
May I take this, please? I plan on swimming today.
[catching Lance's eye]
Or learning how, at least.
(([laughs so hard] I... actually had something pre-written about Linneus going for a big sunhat!))

[ Okay, at that she definitely gets a little huffy. ]
But friends don't arrest other friends!
[ She understands jokes though, she can't be a Keith.
Thankfully, she deflates at the offer for a popsicle. ]
Make it a smoothie and I promise I'll put a smile on my face again.
[ You aren't supposed to make deals like this with friends either though?? ]

[Lance is like a dog that's being scolded for eating the entirety of a Thanksgiving feast...and yet...he's still?!]
We're going back, Lance.
[With such a glare; his feet hurt, his knees feel weird, his thighs have been aired out for far too long, and--
Just a bit beyond Lance, there's a little circle of something glittery; he can't make heads or tails of it, and it looks to be semi-shrouded with rocklike formations? Maybe they're just leaves and bushes. The marsh expedition prepared him for How To Spot Open Water In Darkness; there's something flowy glimmering up under the moonlight.]
...Hey.
[And he's pointing, which is a fairly useless thing to do with the whole NO LIGHT problem they're having.]

Oh- oh...
[the boy has started paying before he's even managed to retrieve his own silver from his clothes. Catching his arm gently-]
You shouldn't have to--
--thank you.
[the transaction is already done, so what else can he say? His serious, concerned expression is wiped out, however, in favour of a startled expression when the hat is pressed onto his head. One hand flying up to touch it; to hold it there-]
This too?!

I'll set it down with my clothes. Thank you again.
[though he supposes that to really show his thanks he should make good use of the gift. And that means learning to swim, come hell or... high water.
Well, he hopes the waters shan't be too high.]
Where is a good place to learn?

Sure, sure, it's no problem!
[She piles a few takoyaki on a plate with a wood skewer for him to use.] Your hands aren't all sandy, are they? I like the beach as much as anyone, but it doesn't belong in food! [She scoots out from behind her grill and over his way.]

[For once, it isn't a looming threat, living or otherwise. He's not so bothered by being excluded from the discovery of this particular thing, somehow. Now that they've found it, his excitement only stems from that. It's actually there and they aren't lost.
But should they even bother dipping in? At nigh--
Oh.
Somehow, he's able to contain his excitement to a brisk walk, gingerly approaching the lagoon...not...bothering to ask Lance if he's alright in the process of. He looks alright -- seems alright.]
Don't just jump in. [He's close enough to be annoying!! Finally.] Don't forget what happened last time.
