[ lance has been snorkeling, and even scuba-dove once with his brother. he's seen the ocean floor before, and its many inhabitants. but each and every time is always something to behold, and this is no exception.
he's right beside her in no time, marveling at the colors, the shapes. the fish he doesn't hesitate to reach out towards, laughing when they tickle his palm in their curiosity. it all looks so familiar, but there are minute differences (the brightness of a purple color, the texture of a scale) that sets it apart enough from earth's ocean floor that keeps a constant reminder that he is not home, no matter how much he may close his eyes and wish it were true.
it's a slightly bittersweet tug in his chest, but it does not dull the brightness and wonder in his eyes as he dares to swim down even further, watching as a crab scuttles its way along the floor. ]
Juvia stays still beside him, as best she can in water, just watching Lance and his genuine reaction to everything around him. She really didn't know how much something like this might mean to him-- or anyone-- having the luxury of doing this whenever she wants.
She doesn't catch on to the way the sight makes him feel, but she does follow him. Past the stray fish, down towards whatever may have grabbed his attention near the floor. She brings a hand forward, sending a wave of water his way with the pure intent of pushing him closer to what he wants-- a tiny, mischievous smile spreading across her face soon after. ]
[ he'd been enjoying the view, watching the unsuspecting mr. crab scuttle his way across the sandy floor. he almost starts talking again, about to wonder aloud where mr. crab's home might be, if mrs. crab is waiting for him already. but then he feels a little push — a strange current and shift in the water, and suddenly he's drawing even closer to the little guy. he glances around in mild surprise, but upon seeing juvia's smile he just grins at her. his laughter is caught up in the bubble, muffled in that strange, contained echo. flashing her a thumbs up, he swims down even further, till he's near laying on the ocean floor himself. the crab had paused a little with the extra current, but upon sensing no real threat, continues along its way. unbeknownst to it, lance is right behind it, doing his own poor imitation of a crab walk. he keeps glancing over his shoulder.
[ She mimics his action, following after him just to glide across the very top of the ocean floor. Juvia laughs when she sees him fooling around— although the sound won't travel, Lance can see plain as day that she's enjoying herself. Even though she doesn't join in, because she's sure she can't beat his amazing display, she lets her fingers trail through the ground as they move alongside the crab. The sand flutters up the more she dips her fingers in, leaving a pathway behind.
It looks like the crab might be indirectly leading them somewhere, though.... It's faint, but the blue of the ocean can't hide it— they're heading towards a forest of kelp that reaches up high into the sky, swaying with each gentle movement of the water. A look of curiosity is sent Lance's way as she lets herself hover away from the ground, above Lance and his crab, inching closer towards the sight. She won't leave him behind, but she's more intent on touching the kelp than playing with the crab. ]
