Yeah, it's a real talent. [ not to brag or anything... but definitely on a list of "absolutely things a person can be adept at", creating a mermaid sand tail from within the sand itself is... pretty high up there, yep. ]

[ ah... two for two now in looking totally uncool in front of her, but frankly this is something he doesn't seem all that embarrassed or bothered about. if anything, the sheepishness of his smile comes from an uncharacteristic shyness; he doesn't often like to be sad in front of other people, even if it's something like this bittersweet feeling welling up in his chest. ]
Ah, well... I grew up right beside it, actually. [ he takes in a breath, turning his own eyes towards the waters. he still can't get over how uncanny it is. ] But then I went to school, so I didn't really see it all that often... then I went up into space, and couldn't return to Earth the entire time. And then this. I kind of.. never thought I'd see it again, to be honest.

[ lance blinks in response, glancing around at the beach around them. was she worried about drowning? there's plenty of people around (some even seem to have been signed up as pseudo-lifeguards), the water's nice, the sun's not too hot and lance himself is practically a human dolphin. ]

[Despite her words, she's glad that Lance seems to be turning towards a brighter side of things. While getting out all those negative emotions is important, she'd rather he cheer up, and he certainly seems on the way to that.

[ another day, another dollar. typically, lance finds many of his shifts at the market district to be fairly low-key, no-pressure. he and prompto have made integrated themselves pretty well into the setting, to the point that he knows all the vendors by name, and vice-versa, and he's seem something of a downward shift in the daily crime rates. but there are still incidents, and today seems to be one of those days.
he listens intently as the person — er, thief — starts complaining loudly and gesturing towards the young woman on the other side of lance. apparently, during his attempt to take her wallet, she stopped him and threw him over her back and now he's... upset about it? ]
